In continuation of \r. Kershaw's letter No. 58E1/19, dated the 5th October 1919, on the nuaject of the negotiation of resenta with the Governments of France and Japan, I am directed by the Secretary of State for India in Council to inform you that, after further consultation with the Government of India, it has been decided to offer the opium required by these Governments for their legitimate requiremcita at the fixed rate of Rs.4000 per cheat. sach chest contains forty cakes or balls, of apɔroximately 34 pounds, each the total weight being about 140 1/7 ɔɔănds, The piwa is packed at a consistency of, as near as possible, 71,.. A statement is attached, showing the prices resìised at the Calcutta auctions for this ɔniwn, for the past twelve months. The upset price is now Ra.450, per chest, and the sum realised at the Cateter auction was 79,4833 chest.
